Our day started when we woke at 4.30am to go to the airport.  We were flying via Sydney to Buenos Aires. We were lucky to be upgraded to Premium Economy before we left. And then when our video screens in our seats did not work we were moved into the lie flat Sky Beds in business class. This was perfect.  I was also quite surprised to find that there were not many people were on this 747 at all.
We both got a few hours sleep on the way over and were well prepared to start running about the city when we arrived. Â A lot of Italian people live here in Buenos Aires so Frank is able to communicate with them. Â I on the other hand have no knowledge of Spanish or Italian.
Being tired when we arrived we decided to take it easy and head over to the Abasto shopping centre to have some lunch and buy some good walking shoes.  I’ve also organised for us to have a walking tour during the week and go to the San Telmo markets on Sunday.
It’s 1am here right now and I am wide awake so I hope I adjust to the time zone quickly. Here are a couple of snaps of Frank and I on QF17 to Buenos Aires.
Holding the Fort
I’m pretty excited that Tyson will be minding the Loft while I am away. Â I am pretty sure you can look forward to much more activity on webcam than there has been recently as the king of entertainment takes over the loft next week.
Stop 6 – Thailand
I am looking forward to this part of the trip. Mai Tai’s on the beach! Â We will stop in Bangkok for a couple of days before we head down to the beaches on Phuket for a week. Â It will be so nice to top the round the world trip off with a week at the beach. Â We had such a nice time there last year that we couldn’t resist to return again. Â We still have not decided exactly which beach we will stay at just yet.
Stop 5 – Italy
I have no idea of what I should expect when we fly from Barcelona to Palermo in Sicily next month. Â I can only imagine consuming loads of pizza. Â We spend a day in Palermo before we catch the ferry over to Lipari on the Aeolian Islands and then on to Naples and Rome. Â I think Italy will come as a surprise to me. Â So I’m keeping an open mind about what I will see there. Â I’m pretty sure it will be an amazing place.
A New Tenant
I’m really happy to have found a new tenant for Loft 1.  The last tenant was there for almost 5 years. So it was a surprise to hear that they were moving out.  I spent a lot of time over there recently cleaning and painting and getting it ready for the next tenants.  I hope they enjoy living there as much as I did.  Eventually I am hoping that all my places will be rented out and I will retire from my day job and live off the rent.  That’s the dream anyway.
I found these great shots on Flickr this week. They were taken from the rooftop of the building across the road.
Shot of the Week
It loosk like I have missed a few weeks since I last posted a Shot of the Week.  So here are some new shots taken from photo shoots we have done this year. The first two are from San Francisco when I was there in April 2009.
Stop 4 – Barcelona
Stop 4 of the Round the World Trip will be Barcelona! Â I have never been to Spain before so it will be great exploring a new part of the world. Â Ive heard that the buildings there are really beautiful. Â Though I have also heard that it is a dirty place with a lot of crime. Â We have rented a beautiful apartment so I am hoping we might do a little shooting there.
Stop 3 – Berlin
The 3rd stop on our round the world trip will be Berlin.  I’ve just realised that the trip is now just 1 month away.  So it’s time to really speed up the plans.  Stop 3 will be my favourite European city Berlin. And I’ve forgotten if this is my 3rd of 4th visit to the city.  Frank and I will be staying at the beautiful Stars Guesthouse in Schoneberg.  It’s handy to loads of cafes, the bars, shopping and the main train station. I think I’m mostly looking forward to eating the curry sausages, the shopping and visit Berghain, the big nightclub there.  These photos were taken from my first trip there during the big RTW trip in 2005.
Renovating Loft 1
It’s amazing how quickly time passes.  It’s been 7 years now since I bought Loft 1 in Flinders Lane. Which means that Melbourneloft.com is also 7 years old.  My long term tenant moved out of the place last week so I’ve been busy this past week doing some painting and repairs to get the place perfect for the next tenant. I was a little disappointed that a few things were broken but I guess I have damaged a few things here at Loft 2 during the same time too.  I was tempted to move back in their myself but it doesn’t nearly have as much spare room as my current apartment has.  I’m hoping we’ll find a nice tenant for the place this week.
Stop 2 – New York City!
Yes…Â stop 2 of the Round the World trip will be New York City! Â And after pondering who I would like to meet while I’m in the Big Apple I decided I should try to track down Plushie Schwartz. Â I had a little information that may just help me track down the party boy of New York.
You can check out Plushie’s new blog HERE.
